New Year, New Me

Hello and welcome to my first blog of 2025!

I would be lying if I said this was my first blog ever as I have tried and failed writing blogs in the past. However I have a renewed motivation this year, so I say with conviction that this will be my first blog of many in 2025!

My intention is to write once a week to keep my readers updated with new paintings and sources of inspiration (similar to what I write about in my newsletters) however this will actually count towards my website SEO.

Fickle I know, but more content on my website the better! And while I am waiting for my cracking paste and acrylic paints to dry, what better way to stay motivated then brain vomiting on a blog page.

So thank you if you are reading this, and I hope you enjoy these updates, & please get in touch if you would like!

Work In Progress

I am currently working on a painting inspired by my previous works Clown Party, Spores and Colourfest.

This is a colourful textured painting creating by layering splatters of multicoloured paint over a background of multicoloured circles.

In summary, lots of colours! I have had a lot of fun today applying the first orange and green splatters, but realised that it will take me longer than anticipated as I intend to also cover the edges using the same technique so will need to wait for each edge to dry before starting a new one (avoiding dripping).

I love creating neutral pieces that will work in any high end residential property… but my true passion (and the part of my personality I love to reflect in my work) is that of crazy colour and the layering of colours that shouldn’t work, but do.

I have shown 2 detailed shots of the painting above.

I have another 2 canvases waiting to be painted but rather than overload myself with work and resolutions, I am taking it one painting at a time! Though I am hoping to have this first one finished by this weekend so stay tuned to see how it turns out.

Resolutions

I have touched on this a little with the title of this blog post, but I am feeling very motivated this year. It could be because I haven’t started work properly yet (that comes tomorrow), but even after my long days in the office I am determined to keep to my resolutions this year, which will ultimately lead to a future where I can paint every day in my studio!

As well as making a commitment to produce more work, write more blog posts and post to Instagram, this is the year I am going to get healthy and connect to my spirituality. I love reading Tarot cards, taking time to meditate and to connect to nature, which I often neglect in favour of working myself to the bone in my 9-5. I also put exercising on the back burner in busy months too, so I have made an amazing effort so far this year to gym more, read more and practice my tarot. Stay tuned how long I can keep to my new strict morning routines, I am NOT a morning person.

I chose the picture above to signify my love and need to connect to nature which was taken during a walk at Virginia Water with Mark last week. I love this park, and this area of tall trees with vibrant green grass underneath needed to be captured!

That’s all folks! Quick blog to start the year but with more artistic adventures this year, visits to galleries and knocking out some beautiful pieces, I will have more to speak about next time!
